Week 5 at SVH

Another week flew by at my internship at Skagit Valley Herald. I feel like it’s going to be over so soon, which is a bummer because I look forward to going to work everyday and discovering a new part of the county.

Throughout my internship I’ve noticed that my takes are getting smaller and smaller. I’m becoming more and more attuned to framing before clicking. But I think I need to press the shutter a little more often, even when the shot isn’t exactly what I want. You never know if the subjects will get more perfectly lined up or not, so sometimes it’s best to shoot the safety even if you know it’s not THE image you want.

And now for a few images from the week:

I’ve been working on shooting with a longer lens, which is a completely different style than what I’m used to. I’ve come to realize I tend to enjoy getting close with my subjects and shooting them from unorthodox angles. My favorite photos all tend to be from the same distance: up close and personal. Using the Nikkor 80-200mm gives me a different perspective. It makes those faraway shots so much more attainable!

Here are some shots from the past weeks assignments:
